About Katherine
A social and Culture Historian
Katherine is a social and cultural historian and specialises in
women’s history, especially in connection with the First World War
and the inter war period.
Katherine took early retirement from the post of Head of Business
Studies at Horley Comprehensive School in 1986, during her
teaching career Katherine taught children in primary and
secondary schools and also worked in Adult education.
STUDIES AT SUSSEX UNIVERSITY
January -December 1994: Women’s Studies Certificate [Gained with
distinction.
October 1994 - June 1995: Cultural Studies Certificate.
October 1995 - June 1998: Cultural Studies BA degree
October 1998 - June 2000: Contemporary History MA
October 2000 - May 2004: Contemporary History D Phil. Funded by ESRC

In 2005 Katherine moved to Lincolnshire, were so researched Belgian
refugees in Lincolnshire in the great war and gave talks to various groups.
In 2014 I left Lincolnshire and returned to Sussex where my research
carried on with Grace as per the home page and getting 'Belgian Refugees
in Lincolnshire and Hull, 1914 – 1919' reworked into a new book called
'Facing East' Also available from Amazon
Since 2021 I have been back in Spalding, but due to having had a heart
attack and had surgery I am unable to give talks or carry on my research.
